The Organization: The Wenger Group, an agricultural products and services company rooted in Christian core values, employs over 1,000 people across Central Pennsylvania.
The Challenge: Kasey, a highly competent HR leader, was navigating the role of faith within her professional environment. Founded on biblical principles, The Wenger Group often included practices like praying before meetings. Kasey sought to maintain professionalism, objectivity, and approachability while staying true to her values.
The Approach: Kasey discovered Rising Sun’s peer-group coaching program, which introduced her to Praxis and its principles. Topics covered included “Maintaining Missional Alignment,” “Rule of Life,” and “When Helping Hurts.” In addition to these learnings, each participant presents a case challenge for group discussion and feedback. According to The Redemptive Business: A Playbook For Leaders, “The redemptive way is creative restoration through sacrifice—to bless others, renew culture, and give of ourselves… The motivating force behind the Redemptive Way is to love and serve.” This approach emphasizes creative restoration through sacrifice—blessing others, renewing culture, and serving with love.
Jim Rowell’s insight particularly resonated with Kasey: “We can’t do enough events to overcome our daily moment-by-moment interactions with employees. If I’m not listening, communicating, or engaging with them, then there are not enough events I can do to overcome that. It’s what we do moment by moment every day that truly impacts employee engagement.”
The Outcome: The coaching helped Kasey realize that many leaders face similar challenges in aligning their values with their leadership roles. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, Rising Sun’s group coaching deepened Kasey’s appreciation for servant leadership and redemptive entrepreneurship. The support from Rising Sun also provided her with a trusted network of peers. Kasey has since applied these principles to her leadership team and direct reports, significantly enhancing workplace culture and intentionality.
